A New Boost for Trade and Tourism

In a significant move to strengthen its network coverage in China, Philippine Airlines (PAL) has announced the resumption of its direct flights between Manila and Beijing starting March 30. This development is a welcome boost for trade and tourism between the two nations.

Expanding Reach in China

PAL’s decision to reinstate flights to Beijing is part of its broader strategy to expand its reach in China. The airline operates daily flights from Manila to Jinjiang, Shanghai, and Xiamen. With the addition of Beijing, PAL will become the largest Philippine carrier in China.

Flight Schedule and Aircraft

The Manila-Beijing route will be served thrice a week, with flights scheduled every Tuesday, Friday, and Sunday. To operate these flights, PAL will deploy its Airbus A321 aircraft, which can carry up to 199 passengers.

Boosting Trade and Tourism

PAL President and COO Stanley Ng emphasized the importance of reopening the Beijing route to enhance trade and tourism with China. He highlighted the longstanding relationship between the Philippines and China, underscoring the role of people-to-people exchanges in strengthening bilateral ties.

“We are honored to serve the capital city of China – the diplomatic heart of the world’s second-largest economy – as our contribution to strengthening our air links to the Chinese mainland,” Ng said. “We believe the Manila-Beijing service will help boost tourism, enhance trade, and deepen friendly ties between the Filipino and Chinese people.”

A Gateway to Popular Destinations

Beijing, the world’s eighth-largest city, is home to some of China’s most iconic landmarks, including the Great Wall, Forbidden City, Summer Palace, and Temple of Heaven. The city also serves as a gateway to the seaport district of Tianjin, which is just an hour away by high-speed train.

For Chinese tourists, resuming flights to Beijing offers convenient access to popular Philippine destinations such as Boracay, Cebu, and Davao via Manila.
